Acadia NP to Boston, MA

Hanging out at Sand Beach at Acadia NP
Sorry it’s been a few days- we have been busy!
Wednesday morning, we packed up camp and made our way to Acadia National Park in northern Maine. Due to our luck, large sections of the park were closed, with plans to re-open on the 17th (today), so we weren’t able to tour the whole park, and the detour was not clearly marked, making finding the entrance difficult. However, once we found our way, again, it was completely worth it.
Cadillac Mountian at Acadia NP- we weren't early enough to witness it, but apparently, it is one of the most beautiful places to watch the sun rise near.
We started our visit off by going down to Sand Beach, and sticking our feet in the Atlantic Ocean. As far as we remember, it was the first time both of us had this opportunity. The water was cold, but the view was beautiful.
At Sand Beach
"Thunder Hole"- from the sign- "in-rushing waves capture and compress air in the back of thunder hole, sometimes producing a thundering boom" (and a huge splash- not long after this photo, these people were soaked.)
Rocks we climbed down to get closer to the ocean
We continued to walk along Park Loop Road as far as we were able with the construction, and made it to Schooner Head Overlook. At first glance, the spot offered just another perspective of the Atlantic Ocean, but as we continued to explore, we found a path leading down to some rocks, which we verrrry carefully climbed down, and sat a little ways up from where the tide was. Soon enough, the tide began to rise and we quickly made our way back to the path, watching as the rock we were sitting on soon became soaked.
The house seen from Schooner's Overlook- ridiculously huge!
After a picnic lunch of veggies and hard-boiled eggs, we decided to continue on our journey, making our way to Boston, MA for the night.

I (Allison) drove once we got near Boston, and made it all the way to our friend Adam’s house without even being honked at once! (But let me say, I prefer not to do that again- the underground freeway system started to really freak me out…)
Upon our 10pm arrival in Boston, Adam had cold beer and the best vegetarian chili we have ever had waiting for us. We stayed up late, catching up, and taking a much needed break.
